People seem to enjoy the focused effort and I’ve been getting hit up by people all over for tips and advice.

Low-agency people gonna do low-agency things. Similarly, I've had friends at higher level fields be like, "My manager didn't assign me anything, so I don't have any work today, wooohoo!" and then wonder why younger, less experienced people are getting promotions over them.

That's a great way of looking at it. I've never understood the "that's not my job" mentality. I'm always looking to do more and learn.
